Waller County Fair Association - Queen's Candidate Pre-Sale SEASON TICKETS
Season Pass $20.00 / Super Pass $60.00.  This includes unlimited carnival rides!
Tickets can be purchased at Steinhauser's in Hempstead, Huckleberry's in Waller, and Monaville General Store.

Search for Mrs. Waller County 2011
If you are married and will be between the ages of 21 and 56 as of July 1, 2011,
applications are now being accepted for the title of 2011 “Mrs. Waller County”.
Mrs. Waller County will have the honor of representing her area at the Mrs. Texas International Pageant to be held
at the Lila Cockrell Theatre in San Antonio, Texas, March 11 – 13, 2011. 
The woman selected at “Mrs. Waller County” will become an ambassador from the Waller County area and receive
and official title and sash. Representing Waller County at the 2010 Mrs. Texas Pageant was Billie Jo Ryan of Waller, Texas.
The woman crowned Mrs. Texas will receive a prize package valued at over $15,000 and the opportunity to represent
Texas at the 2011 Mrs. International Pageant in Chicago.
The American Heart Association is the official charity of the Mrs. Texas International Pageant. 
In 2008, the International Pageants joined the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement and
each state titleholder will champion heart disease as a national platform in a addition to promoting their own platform throughout the year. There is no talent or swimsuit competition and no experience necessary.

Angel Food Ministries - First United Methodist Church of Brookshire
First United Methodist Church of Brookshire, host site for Angel Food Ministries, announces online ordering.
Go to www.angelfoodministries.com and select the online order item on the side bar menu.
The screen will ask for a zip code. Input the zip code for Brookshire, 77423, and this brings up the screen for ordering.
Orders will also continue to be taken on
Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 707 Cooper at 7th street;
Tuesdays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. & Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Manna House on Hwy. 359,
and Monday-Friday
from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Judge Ted Krenek's office in Pattison.
Orders made in person must be accompanied by either cash (exact change) or money order made out to FUMC Brookshire.

UPDATED INFORMATION
Announcing LOWER PRICES and GREATER VARIETY in the food boxes. 
For example, the regular box which feeds a family of 4 for about one week or an individual for about one month is now only $29. An "After school" box, fruit and veggie box, a variety of meat boxes and a GLUTEN-FREE box are also available, as well as convenience boxes which contain 10 cooked, frozen, ready to heat and serve meals. 
ANGEL FOOD BOXES ARE FOR EVERYONE!  THERE IS NO INCOME QUALIFICATION.
On-Site orders must be placed on the Wednesday of the week prior to pick up/distribution. 
Pick up/distribution is the 4th Saturday of the month from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at FUMC Brookshire regardless
of whether the order was placed on-site or on-line.  Any boxes not picked up will be donated to a family in need.

Houston Area Live Steamers (HALS)
The Houston Area Live Steamers (HALS) offers free train rides to the community.  The Public Run Days are scheduled
for the third Saturday of the month, March 20th through November 20th at Zube Park located at
17802 Roberts Road in Hockley, TX.

65th Year for the Waller County Fair is September 25th – October 2nd
A parade will kick off this event leading to the Carnival, Creative Arts, Agricultural and Educational Exhibits, Ranch Rodeo,
Youth Rodeo, Bull Riding, Calf Roping, Team Roping, Mutton Busting, and a new Heifer Scramble program.
Line up for this year’s entertainment is Josh Ward Band, Charlie Robinson, Charlie Lucas Band, Max Stallings,
Grainger Smith Band and Easton Corbin.

Tuesday and Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m.

 Waller County 4-H Youth Dog Project
This project teaches about the selection and care of a dog; the maintenance, the
responsibilities of having a dog; the importance of keeping an accurate records; and the
importance of citizenship, sportsmanship and cooperation.
Also looking for adult project leaders ages 18 and older who love working with children and
dogs to provide assistance to the 4-H and Youth dog project.

Wed., September 8 – Mandatory Meeting for all contestants for the 2010 Little Mister & Miss Waller County Contest
The Rock Island 4-H Club will be hosting the 2010 Waller County Little Mister & Miss Contest. 
Contestants must be between the ages of 4 and 6 years of age as of September 1, 2010, and a resident of or
attends school in Waller County. There will be a mandatory meeting for all contestants on Wednesday, September 8th at the Waller County Fairgrounds at 6:00 p.m. in the Barbara Carpenter Bldg.  (Formerly known as the Creative Living Bldg.)
This meeting is to go over the rules and take a group picture.
No contestants will be allowed to enter this contest after September 8th.
The actual contest will be held during the 2010 Waller County Fair.

Dinner will be catered by Repka's and will include Chicken Fried Steak or Chicken Fried Chicken.  
The cost is $8.00 per plate and dinner will be served from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. with the auction beginning at 7:00 p.m.
and continuing until ?   All proceeds benefit the PAVFD.

Starting at 9:30 a.m. at Brookwood, located at 1752 FM 1489 in Brookshire.
Guest Speaker Penny Ward of “It’s an Affair of the Heart,” is a certified etiquette instructor and
regular contributor to Tea in Texas magazine.
The etiquette presentation is followed by a Traditional Afternoon Tea Menu.
 The Tea is $19.95 plus tax.

October 9 – Pattison Lawn Mower Races
1st Annual Pattison Lawn Mower Races will be held at the Pattison Car Show at Royal High School,
located at 34499 Royal Rd. in Brookshire.  Gate will open at 8:00 a.m., registration by 11:00 a.m.,
drivers meeting at 11:30 a.m.  The Mower Races will start at noon.
Entry Fee is $25.00.  Drag Race – Track will be 1/16 of a mile on pavement.  
Lawnmowers must be stock.  Mower deck must be disengaged for race.  Helmets are recommended.  
Must be at least 18 years old.

October 10 – Sacred Heart Catholic Church Harvest Fall Festival
Starting at 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the church located at 4445 FM 359 in Pattison.  Czech It Out! 
Turkey, dressing, and ham with all the trimmings will be served.  Delicious homemade kuliches will be for sale.

Tickets are $9.00 each. See any Brookshire Fireman or Auxiliary Member.
